The backbone of the Blues
There is only one real technique you need to learn as a beginner to understand the blues. All blues guitar lessons will teach it to you and it’s the 12 bar blues. The 12 bar blues are the back bone pattern that 90% of all blues tunes follow and once you understand it you’ll be strumming and learning the blues in every key imaginable. I’d suggest either taking some online lessons or buying a DVD if you’re not keen on taking private lessons to learn this first skill, but once you get it there will be all kinds of free videos you can watch on YouTube to further your understanding.
