Custom name badges find their use in almost all organizations from schools to multination companies. Name badges play a very crucial role in schools. They help develop a healthy relationship between the parents and the staff members. Whether in nursery, primary or secondary school, custom name badges can play a crucial role in creating a safer and a more secure environment for the children. Digitally cheap name badges help to heighten the profile of the staff to children, parents and visitors alike by promoting trust and security through the organization’s customized name badges which carry the individual names of each staff member along with their relevant position if required. George Whitefield Biography

Monday, March 19th, 2012

God, who orders all things in heaven and earth, and called David from keeping sheep to be a king, had a more important job for George Whitefield than washing pots and pans at the family inn. When a family argument interfered with Whitefield’s prospects at the business run by his family (the Bell Inn), an old classmate stirred within him the desire to make his way to the University. At length, after several providential circumstances had smoothed the way, Whitefield began at Oxford. He as eighteen years old at the time, when he started in the humbling position of servitor at Pembroke College.

A Call to Prayer

Sunday, March 18th, 2012

Before he became Paul the great apostle, Saul most likely said many a long prayer to God. It wasn’t until his heart was broken on the way to Damascus, however, that the Lord said “he prayeth.” Perhaps this is because prayer is not a natural thing. “The carnal mind is enmity against God.” The desire of man’s heart is to get far away from God, and have nothing to do with him. His feeling towards him is not love, but fear. Why should a man pray when he has no real sense of sin, no real feeling of spiritual wants, no thorough belief in unseen things, no desire after holiness and heaven? Of all these things the vast majority of men know and feel nothing. The multitude walk in the broad way. (Adapted from “A Call to Prayer” by J.C. Ryle.)

Japanese Tourists in Yorkshire

Saturday, March 17th, 2012

When most Americans visit the United Kingdom they go to London, an ancient city that is still one of the capitals of the world today, and university cities of Oxford and Cambridge. While these are also popular among Japanese tourists, they have one extra place they go: the small town of Haworth in West Yorkshire. They go here because of the popularity of the novels by Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte in Japan where they have gained a cult status that exceeds their popularity anywhere else in the world. While there they often walk up the surrounding hills to areas that appear similar to scenes in the novels, as well as visiting the Bronte Parsonage museum and exploring the town which architecturally appears almost exactly like it did when the three sisters lived there.

Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue

Saturday, March 17th, 2012

The exact verbiage may have changed, but, as illustrated by the Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue, slang was as popular in the early 1800’s as it is today. In those days, “beggar’s bullets” referred to stones, a “belch” was a drink of beer, and to curse someone with “bell, book, and candle” meant to excommunicate them from the organized church. Your lungs are actually “bellows,” which might explain why the town crier was known as the “bellower.” Food was known as “belly timber,” while a noisy, bullying fellow would be called a ‘bell swagger.” A “ben” was a fool, and a “bess” or “betty” was a small tool used by burglars to force open a door.

Holiness by J. C. Ryle

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

It is hard for mortal man to realize the exceeding sinfulness of sin in the sight of that holy and perfect One with whom we have to do. On the one hand, God is that eternal Being who “charges His angels with folly” and in whose sight the very “heavens are not clean.” He is One who reads thoughts and motives as well as actions and requires “truth in the inward parts” (Job 4:18; 15:15; Ps. 51:6). We, on the other hand—poor blind creatures are born in sin, surrounded by sinners, living in a constant atmosphere of weakness, infirmity and imperfection—can form none but the most inadequate conceptions of the hideousness of evil. We have no line to fathom it and no measure by which to gauge it. The blind man can see no difference between a master painting and the queen’s head on a village signboard. The deaf man cannot distinguish between a penny whistle and a cathedral organ. The very animals whose smell is most offensive to us have no idea that they are offensive. Similarly, fallen men and women can have no just idea what a vile thing sin is in the sight of that God whose handiwork is absolutely perfect. Adapted from Holiness by JC Ryle.
